Amazon Cuts 200 Jobs in FBA Support Team as AI Takes Over Merchant Assistance

Amazon Streamlines FBA Support with AI, Resulting in Layoffs

In a move towards efficiency and automation, Amazon has laid off around 200 employees from its Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) support team. This team plays a crucial role in assisting merchants who utilize Amazon's warehousing and delivery services.

A spokesperson from Amazon confirmed the layoffs to The Information, stating, "Following a recent review, we've eliminated some roles in the FBA organization." Despite these reductions, the company assures that support for its selling partners will remain unaffected.

The Rise of AI in Merchant Support

This decision aligns with Amazon's increasing reliance on AI-driven tools to assist merchants. Highlighting this shift, the company introduced Project Amelia last September. This innovative chatbot is designed to help sellers efficiently track and manage their inventory within Amazon's vast logistics network.
