Montra Electric's New Venture in Chennai

Murugappa group's EV company, Montra Electric, has taken a significant step forward in the electric vehicle industry with the inauguration of its new manufacturing plant in Ponneri, Chennai. This facility, sprawling over five lakh square feet, is dedicated to the production of electric small commercial vehicles (e-SCV), marking a pivotal moment in sustainable clean mobility solutions.

Commitment to Sustainable Mobility

Arun Murugappan, executive chairman of Tube Investments of India (TII), expressed pride in the inauguration of the plant, stating, "TICMPL (TI Clean Mobility Private Limited) is proud to inaugurate its first dedicated e-SCV plant in Tamil Nadu. We remain committed to innovative and sustainable clean mobility solutions." This plant is not just a manufacturing unit but a testament to the group's dedication to environmental sustainability and innovation in the EV sector.

Production Capacity and Offerings

The newly inaugurated plant boasts an annual production capacity of 50,000 vehicles, catering to the small and light commercial vehicle (SCV/LCV) segments. It will primarily manufacture the Eviator, Montra Electric's latest offering in the e-SCV segment, setting new benchmarks in the electric commercial vehicle market.
