German Industrial Production Rises in January
In an encouraging sign for the German economy, industrial production in the manufacturing sector saw a 2% increase on a monthly basis in January, according to a provisional report by the Federal Statistical Office Destatis. However, when compared to the same month last year, there was a slight decline of 1.6%.

Key Sector Performances
The automotive industry led the charge with a significant 6.4% jump in production from the previous month. Not far behind, the food industry experienced a 7.7% increase, and machine maintenance and assembly production surged by an impressive 15.6% month-on-month.
Production Trends Across Different Goods
Intermediate goods production advanced by 3.3%, while consumer goods output saw a 2.4% rise from December 2024. In contrast, energy production faced a minor setback, dropping by 0.5% in January.
