In February, Germany's unemployment rate held steady at 6.4%, as reported by the Federal Employment Agency (Bundesagentur fuer Arbeit). The total number of unemployed individuals slightly increased to 2,989,000, marking a rise of 5,000 from the previous month but still below analysts' expectations.

Year-over-Year Unemployment Growth
Compared to February of the previous year, unemployment has seen a significant rise, with an additional 175,000 people out of work. This highlights the ongoing challenges in the German job market despite the stable unemployment rate.
Underemployment Figures
Underemployment, which includes those unable to work short-term and the unemployed, was reported at 3,731,000 or 7.9%. This figure has increased by 2,000 from the previous month and by 94,000 compared to the same period last year, indicating a slight uptick in the number of people facing job insecurity.
