Swiss Producer and Import Price Index Rises Slightly in January
In January, the Swiss Producer and Import Price Index experienced a modest increase of 0.1%, reaching 106.4 points, as reported by the Federal Statistical Office on Friday. The producer price index saw a similar increase of 0.1%, while the import price index rose by 0.2% to 106.5 points.

Key Drivers Behind the Increase
The report highlighted that the increase was primarily driven by higher prices in petroleum products, watches, and medical and dental instruments and supplies. On the other hand, electricity prices saw a decline.
Year-on-Year Comparison
When compared to the previous year, the overall index saw a slight decrease of 0.3%. The producer price index remained stable, whereas the import price index experienced a decrease of 0.8%.
