Tesla Faces 11.5% Drop in January Deliveries in China Amid Rising Competition

In a surprising turn of events, Tesla Inc. experienced an 11.5% decline in the delivery of its electric vehicles made in China this January, compared to the same period last year. According to the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA), the total units delivered were 63,238.

BYD Outpaces Tesla with Significant Growth

On the other hand, BYD, Tesla's formidable competitor in China, showcased a remarkable 47.5% increase in vehicle deliveries, totaling 296,446 units for the same month. However, this figure represents a 41.8% decrease from December 2023.

Monthly Comparison Reveals Sharp Decline

The CPCA also highlighted a 32.6% month-over-month drop in the deliveries of Tesla's China-made Model 3 and Model Y, indicating a significant slowdown in the beginning of the year.
