UBS's Strategic Expansion in Hyderabad
Swiss banking giant UBS has announced plans to significantly expand its global capability centre (GCC) footprint in Hyderabad, India, by creating an additional 1,800 jobs over the next two years. This move is aimed at bolstering UBS's finance and operations functions, leveraging the city's rich talent pool and robust infrastructure.
Why Hyderabad?
Harald Egger, UBS India chairman and head of group real estate and supply chain, highlighted Hyderabad's exceptional talent pool, world-class infrastructure, and a vibrant innovation ecosystem supported by favorable government policies as key factors driving the expansion. "We are pleased to deepen our presence in Telangana, where we can continue to leverage these strengths to drive our growth and contribute to the evolving economic landscape of the region," Egger stated.
Hyderabad: A Hub for Global Capability Centres
Duddilla Sridhar Babu, Telangana's IT & industries minister, pointed out that Hyderabad is home to 11% of India’s GCCs. The expansion of UBS's operations in the city underscores the confidence global businesses have in Hyderabad’s infrastructure and talent. "As we continue to grow Hyderabad as the country’s foremost hub for GCCs, we are redefining what it means to be an investment-friendly, technology-driven, and future-ready state," Babu added.
