Global Fuel Prices Hit 5-Month High Amid Rising Demand and Sanctions

Recent Surge in Fuel Prices

The popular fuel RON95 has seen a significant increase, rising by 0.99% to VND21,220, marking the highest price since August 22. This surge is part of a broader trend affecting various fuel types across the globe.

Impact on Different Fuel Types

Biofuel E5 RON92 wasn't left behind, with a 0.69% increase to VND20,570. Diesel prices also climbed, experiencing a 2.81% rise to VND19,780. These adjustments reflect the volatile nature of the global fuel market.

Factors Driving the Price Increase

Regulators have pointed to a combination of factors contributing to the recent price hikes. Increased fuel demand in the U.S. and Europe, spurred by cold weather, alongside U.S. sanctions on Russian oil producers and transporters, have significantly influenced the market.

During this period, gasolines saw a 1.3-2.3% increase, while oils added 3.5-4%. Currently, RON95 is priced at $87.1 per barrel, with diesel at $95.4.
