Tesla's Leap into Grid-Scale Energy Storage
Tesla Inc. has announced the commencement of trial production at its Megapack plant in Shanghai, marking a significant milestone in the company's expansion into large-scale energy storage solutions. This development was reported by the Global Times on Tuesday, highlighting Tesla's commitment to enhancing grid operations with its advanced lithium-ion energy storage units.
Construction and Future Plans
Initiated in May, the construction of the Shanghai plant reached a pivotal point with the completion of its inspection on December 27. The facility is on track to begin mass production in 2025, with ambitious plans to manufacture 10,000 Megapacks annually. This production capacity is expected to generate an impressive energy storage capacity of nearly 40 gigawatt hours (GWh), as per an earlier report by the Shanghai Observer.
