Stock Markets to Operate on Saturday for Union Budget 2025

Markets to Stay Open on Saturday for Budget Announcement

The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE) have announced that stock markets will remain open for trading on Saturday, February 1, when Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the Union Budget for fiscal year 2025-26.

Both exchanges confirmed in separate circulars that trading will be conducted during normal hours from 9.15 am to 3.30 pm. This decision follows precedents set on February 1, 2020, and February 28, 2015, when the markets were also operational on Saturdays for the Union Budget presentations.

Since the shift of the Budget presentation time from 5 pm to 11 am in 2001, stock markets have consistently been open during standard trading hours on the day of the announcement.
