Spain's Rapid Response to Power Crisis
Following a massive outage that left the Iberian Peninsula in darkness, Spain's electricity grid operator, Red Electrica, has successfully restored 99.16% of demand. The operator confirmed that all transmission grid substations are now fully operational, marking a significant step towards normalcy.
Portugal's Progress in Power Restoration
On the other side of the border, Portugal's grid operator REN reported that power has been reinstated at 85 out of 89 substations, showcasing the collaborative efforts to overcome the blackout.
Investigating the Cause
Red Electrica attributed the blackout to grid oscillations. European Commissioner Teresa Ribera emphasized that there is no evidence of sabotage or cyberattacks, reassuring the public and stakeholders about the integrity of the power grid.
