Spotify's User Base Grows to 678 Million

Spotify Technology S.A. announced a significant milestone in the first quarter of 2025, with its monthly active users (MAU) increasing by 10% to reach 678 million. This growth aligns with the company's expectations and showcases its expanding global footprint.

Premium Subscribers and Revenue Show Strong Growth

The music streaming giant also reported a 12% increase in premium subscribers, totaling 268 million by the end of the quarter. This marks the highest quarterly net addition of subscribers since 2020. Despite a 15% surge in total revenue to €4.2 billion, the figures slightly missed market estimates.

Financial Health and Market Reaction

Spotify's financial health showed improvement, with gross margin rising to 31.6% and operating income growing significantly to €509 million from €168 million in the same period last year. However, the company's stock experienced a 7.34% drop in premarket trading following the announcement.
