HYDERABAD: A Milestone Achievement for NMDC Steel
In a remarkable display of industrial prowess, NMDC Steel Ltd (NSL)'s Nagarnar plant has not only reached but exceeded its rated capacity across multiple units, setting new benchmarks on April 26, 2025. This achievement underscores the plant's commitment to operational excellence and innovation.

Record-Breaking Performances Across the Board
The raw material handling system (RMHS) achieved its highest-ever daily base mix production of 23,307 tonnes, alongside superior operational efficiency. The coke oven (CO) unit and blast furnace also set new records, with the latter producing 11,034 tonnes of hot metal in a single day.
Steel Melting Shop and Beyond
The steel melting shop (SMS) tapped 52 heats, producing 9,342 tonnes of liquid steel. Additionally, the power and blowing station (PBS) exceeded its rated capacity, with the top recovery turbine (TRT) generating over 15 MW of power for the first time.
Contributing to the Regional Ecosystem
In a first, NSL supplied liquid nitrogen to the Chhattisgarh government, marking a significant contribution to the regional industrial ecosystem. Amitava Mukherjee, chairman and managing director of NMDC Ltd and NSL, hailed these achievements as a defining moment for India's steel industry.
