Apple's Unprecedented Success in India
Apple has not only made a significant impact with its hardware sales in India but has also seen remarkable success through its iOS app ecosystem. In 2024, the company raked in an astonishing $5.3 billion (around Rs 44,447 crore) from app store transactions alone.

A New Frontier for Apple
This success has opened a new frontier for Apple in India, with the company's total business engagement crossing nearly $27 billion (Rs 2.3 lakh crore) in 2024. This includes $8 billion from sales of iPhones and other products, $14 billion from exports, and over $5 billion from app store transactions.
Developer Earnings and Global Reach
Interestingly, more than 94% of the billings and sales facilitated by the app store in India went directly to developers, with no commission paid to Apple. The global earnings of India-based developers tripled over the past five years, with close to 80% of their app store earnings coming from users outside of India.
User Engagement and Downloads
On average, more than 22 million users visited the India app store each week in 2024, doubling the number from three years ago. iOS users in India downloaded apps nearly 1.1 billion times throughout the year, also almost double the figure from three years prior.
Apple's CEO Tim Cook has termed this growth a "miracle for developers in India," highlighting the vibrant app economy and the company's commitment to supporting developers of all sizes.
