US Dollar Surges to Record High Against Vietnamese Dong Amid Global Currency Fluctuations

State Bank Adjusts Reference Rate

The State Bank of Vietnam responded by increasing its reference rate by 0.08% to VND24,948.

Global Dollar Dynamics

Globally, the dollar experienced fluctuations, rising on Friday after minor losses the previous day. This volatility comes as traders assess the U.S. economy's outlook following mixed signals from President Donald Trump regarding trade deals and Federal Reserve policies.

Early Friday trading saw the dollar up 0.3% at 143.08 yen, and 0.4% stronger at 0.8303 Swiss franc. The euro and sterling saw slight declines against the dollar.

Weekly Currency Rollercoaster

The U.S. currency's value has been highly volatile this week, influenced by Trump's statements on Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell and trade negotiations with China. Despite a lack of progress in talks with Beijing, the dollar index is poised for a modest weekly gain, potentially ending a four-week losing streak.
