China and US Yet to Begin Trade Talks Amid Tariff Dispute, Spokesman Reveals

China's Stance on US Tariffs

At a recent press conference, Chinese Foreign Ministry's spokesperson Guo Jiakun clarified that China and the United States have not yet started any negotiations regarding the recent tariffs imposed on each other's exports. Guo emphasized the need for the US to stop its "threats" to pave the way for a respectful dialogue.

Violation of WTO Rules

Guo Jiakun also pointed out that the duties imposed by US President Donald Trump on Chinese exports, which he likened to a "tsunami," are in violation of the World Trade Organization's rules. This statement comes in response to Trump's remarks that the duration and value of the US tariffs on China are contingent upon Beijing's actions.
