In a remarkable turn of events, new single-family home sales in the United States experienced a 7.4% increase in March compared to February, reaching a total of 724,000 units, as reported by the Census Bureau. Inventory and Pricing Trends
The end of March saw 503,000 new houses available for sale, a slight 0.6% rise from February and a significant 7.9% increase compared to the same period last year. This inventory level suggests a supply of 8.3 months at the current sales rate. Despite the uptick in sales, the median sale price witnessed a decline, standing at $403,600, which is 1.9% lower than February's figures and 7.5% less than in March 2025.
