Following a successful testing phase that began in January, Meta Platforms Inc. has announced the global expansion of ads in its Threads app to all eligible advertisers. This strategic move marks a significant step in Meta's advertising capabilities, offering a new platform for advertisers to reach their target audiences.

How Ads Will Appear in Threads

Ads will be automatically placed in the Threads feed for new campaigns utilizing either Advantage+ or Manual Placements. However, advertisers have the flexibility to opt out of the Threads feed when using Manual Placements. To ensure transparency, ads will be clearly marked with a "Sponsored" label in gray adjacent to the username.

Meta's Phased Approach to Ads in Threads

"We are adopting a phased approach to introducing ads in Threads to optimize both the user and advertiser experience," stated Matthew Tye, Meta's spokesperson, in an interview with The Verge. He further revealed Meta's plans to test ads in over 30 countries worldwide, indicating the company's commitment to refining its advertising strategy on the platform.
