Following a successful testing phase with a select group of advertisers since January, Meta Platforms Inc. has announced the global rollout of ads in its Threads app. This strategic move opens up new avenues for eligible advertisers worldwide, marking a significant milestone in the app's monetization strategy.

How Ads Will Appear in Threads

Ads will automatically be integrated into the Threads feed for new campaigns utilizing either Advantage+ or Manual Placements. However, advertisers have the flexibility to opt out of the Threads feed through Manual Placements. To ensure transparency, ads will be clearly marked with a "Sponsored" label in gray, positioned next to the username.

Meta's Phased Approach to Ad Rollout

"We are committed to a phased approach in rolling out ads within Threads," stated Matthew Tye, Meta's spokesperson, in an interview with The Verge. This careful strategy aims to balance the user experience with advertiser objectives, with plans to extend testing to over 30 countries globally.
