Meta Platforms Inc. Unveils Global Ad Expansion in Threads
Following a successful testing phase that began in January, Meta Platforms Inc. has announced the global expansion of ads within its Threads app to all eligible advertisers. This strategic move marks a significant milestone in the app's monetization efforts.

How Ads Will Appear in Threads
Ads will be seamlessly integrated into the Threads feed by default for new campaigns utilizing either Advantage+ or Manual Placements. Advertisers have the flexibility to opt out of the Threads feed through Manual Placements, ensuring control over their ad placements. Users can easily identify these ads by the "Sponsored" label, displayed in gray adjacent to the username.
Meta's Phased Approach to Ad Rollout
"We are committed to a phased rollout of ads in Threads, prioritizing both user and advertiser experience," stated Matthew Tye, Meta's spokesperson, in an interview with The Verge. The company plans to extend its testing to over 30 countries, aiming to refine the ad experience on a global scale.
