Malaysia Aims to Dominate China's Durian Market with Fresh, High-Quality Exports Amid Surging Demand

Malaysia's Fresh Durians Win Over Affluent Chinese Consumers

Fresh durians, airlifted to China within 48 hours of harvest, are becoming a favorite among China's affluent consumers, according to Guo Min, deputy marketing director at Joy Wing Mau. The company plans to boost exports by 30% this year, signaling strong confidence in the Chinese market.

Competing with Thailand and Vietnam

Malaysia is set to challenge Thailand and Vietnam, the current leaders in China's durian market, with its unique selling point: durians that ripen naturally on the tree. This method is believed to enhance flavor, giving Malaysia an edge in the competitive market.

Expanding Production and Strengthening Ties

With increasing demand and expanding domestic production, Malaysia expects its durian exports to China to grow by 20-25% this year. The country is also strengthening commercial relationships and participating in promotional initiatives like China's International Import Expo to attract more exporters.
