Unprecedented Growth Over the Years

Over the past 11 years, KVIC has witnessed a 347 percent increase in production and a 447 percent rise in sales. Employment generation has also seen a significant boost, with a 49.23 percent increase, benefiting 1.94 crore individuals. This growth underscores the sector's vital role in enhancing rural livelihoods.

Self-Reliant India Vision

"The vision of a self-reliant India, rooted in the legacy of Bapu’s Khadi, is being realized through transformative efforts under 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav' and the ‘Viksit Bharat’ mission," stated KVIC Chairman. The financial year 2024–25 saw production jump to Rs 1.16 lakh crore from Rs 26,109 crore in 2013–14, with sales reaching Rs 1.70 lakh crore.

Empowering Rural India

The Pradhan Mantri Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) has been instrumental in rural employment, setting up over 10.18 lakh units and employing over 90 lakh people. Additionally, the Gramodyog Vikas Yojana's budget was increased by 134 percent to Rs 60 crore for FY 2025–26, further supporting micro-enterprises in rural areas.

Women Empowerment and Skill Development

Highlighting the focus on women empowerment, 57.45 percent of the 7.43 lakh trained individuals are women, with 80 percent of Khadi artisans also being women. Their wages have increased by 275 percent over the last 11 years, with a 100 percent increase in just the last three years.

This progress not only reflects statistical achievements but also the transformation of rural India through enterprise, skill-building, and empowerment, setting a strong foundation for India's goal to become the third-largest economy by 2047.
