Markets Open Lower After Upward Trend
NEW DELHI: The Indian stock markets opened slightly lower on Thursday, marking a pause in the upward trend observed throughout the week. The Sensex began the day with a drop of 76.27 points at 76,968.02, while the Nifty also saw a decline, opening at 23,401.85.
The situation worsened shortly after opening, with the Sensex plunging by over 300 points to 76,675.62 and the Nifty dropping by over 100 points to a low of 23,298.55 during early trade.

Significant Turning Point for Indian Markets
This downturn represents a significant shift for the Indian stock markets, which had been on a high since Tuesday, with Monday being a holiday due to Good Friday. Today's trading session is particularly notable as it concludes the week's market activities, with markets set to remain closed on April 18 for Good Friday.
On the previous day, Wednesday, the markets had closed in the green, with the Sensex gaining 309.40 points (0.40%) to close at 77,044.29, and the Nifty rising by 108.65 points (0.47%) to reach 23,437.20.
