The annual inflation rate in France was confirmed at 0.8% for March, as reported by INSEE, the country's statistical office. This figure aligns with preliminary estimates, showing a slight monthly increase in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 0.2%.

Driving Factors Behind the Inflation Rate

Service prices led the charge with a significant 2.3% increase, counterbalanced by a notable 6.6% drop in energy prices compared to last year. Meanwhile, food prices saw a modest rise of 0.6%, and tobacco prices surged by 4.1% from March 2024.

Core Inflation Remains Unchanged

Excluding the volatile sectors of food and energy, France's annual core inflation remained steady at 1.3% in March, mirroring February's rate.
