SEC Delays Decision on Grayscale's Ethereum ETF Staking Proposal, New Deadline Set for June

SEC Postpones Decision on Grayscale's Ethereum ETF Staking

The United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) announced on Monday its decision to delay the ruling on the staking feature for Grayscale's spot Ethereum ETFs. This move extends the initial decision deadline, allowing more time for consideration.

Background of the Proposal

In February, NYSE Arca, Inc. submitted a proposal to the SEC, seeking to amend the rules for the Grayscale Ethereum Trust ETF and Grayscale Ethereum Mini Trust ETF to include staking. The original 45-day comment period was set to conclude on April 17.

Extended Deadline for Decision

The SEC has now extended the deadline by an additional 45 days, citing the need for "sufficient time" to thoroughly evaluate the proposed rule change. A final decision, whether approval or disapproval, is expected by June 1.
