MUMBAI: A New Chapter for TCS
Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) welcomes Aarthi Subramanian (58) as its new Chief Operating Officer, stepping into the shoes left by N Ganapathy Subramaniam upon his retirement in May 2024. Effective May 1, Subramanian's appointment heralds a significant transition, requiring her to depart from her current role as Chief Digital Officer (CDO) at Tata Sons and resign from her directorships across several Tata Sons subsidiaries.

Subramanian's Illustrious Career
With a bachelor’s degree in computer science from NIT Warangal and a master’s degree in engineering management from the University of Kansas, Subramanian began her journey with TCS in 1989. Her ascent to the board in 2015 and subsequent role as CDO of Tata Sons in 2017 underscore her pivotal contributions to the Tata group.
Leadership and Legacy
Subramanian's leadership comes at a time when TCS is navigating the post-retirement phase of Ganapathy, the elder brother of company chairman N Chandrasekaran, who has taken on the mantle of chairman at Tata Communications. In her new capacity, Subramanian will report directly to CEO and MD K Krithivasan, while Mangesh Sathe steps in as the chief strategy officer, marking a fresh strategic direction for TCS.
