EU Must Resist Trump's Deregulation Temptation, Says ECB Official
At a recent Eurofi conference in Warsaw, Francois Villeroy de Galhau, a member of the European Central Bank (ECB) Governing Council and Governor of the Bank of France, made a strong statement against following United States President Donald Trump's approach to financial deregulation.
"A Wrong Path"
Villeroy emphasized that Trump's economic and financial agenda represents "a wrong path" for the EU. He warned of the dangers of forgetting the lessons learned from the 2008 global banking crisis, suggesting that deregulation could lead to future financial crises.
The Atlantic Wind
"Today, a strong wind is blowing from across the Atlantic with a dangerous temptation to ignore past mistakes," Villeroy commented, highlighting the risks of adopting a lax regulatory framework.
