US Treasury Secretary's Firm Stance on China's Trade Tactics
United States Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent responded to China's recent tariff increases on US goods, which now stand at 84%, with a dismissive "So what." This move by China is seen as retaliation against the US's imposition of a 104% tariff on Chinese exports.

Bessent issued a stark warning to Beijing: "Do not try to devalue your way out of this trade dispute." He emphasized that such a strategy would effectively act as a "tax on others," harming global economic stability.
Call for Diplomatic Engagement and Accountability
Encouraging China to engage in dialogue, Bessent stated, "Come to the table to discuss a solution." He revealed that the US is exploring all possible measures, including the delisting of Chinese companies from US stock markets, to address the ongoing trade tensions.
Additionally, Bessent called on the Chinese government to take action against the export of fentanyl precursors to the US, linking the issue to the broader opioid epidemic that the Trump administration has partially blamed on China.
