Ukraine and EFTA Seal Historic Free Trade Deal
In a significant move to bolster economic relations, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced the signing of a comprehensive free trade agreement with the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) on Tuesday.
Key Highlights of the Agreement: The deal introduces innovative chapters focusing on e-commerce, support for small- and medium-sized enterprises, and updates on trade in goods and services. It also includes provisions for trade facilitation and government procurement, marking a leap towards deeper integration into European supply chains.
Trade Figures Between Ukraine and EFTA
Last year's trade between Ukraine and the EFTA nations—Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, and Switzerland—totaled nearly €1.1 billion. Ukraine's exports were dominated by fats and oils, valued at €37 million, while EFTA's exports to Ukraine included €229 million in fish and seafood, €143 million in pharmaceutical products, and €77 million in arms and ammunition, among others.
