U.S. Prioritizes Japan and South Korea in Tariff Talks

In a recent interview with Fox News, Kevin Hassett, Director of the United States National Economic Council, disclosed that his team is in the process of drafting a proposal for President Donald Trump. This proposal will outline the timing and participants for upcoming tariff negotiations.

Trump's Trade Agenda: Fairness and Reciprocity

Hassett highlighted that Japan and South Korea are at the top of the list for these discussions. "Trump is committed to achieving fair and reciprocal trade," Hassett stated. "The President will carefully consider each country's proposals before making any decisions."

Fed's Independence and China Trade Discussions

When the conversation turned to interest rates, Hassett was quick to point out the Federal Reserve's independence in its decision-making processes. Regarding trade talks with China, he mentioned a strategic approach: "We're focusing on our trading partners and allies first."
