In a recent report released by INSEE, France's National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies, the country's trade deficit has widened to €7.2 billion in February. This marks an increase from the revised €6.5 billion deficit recorded in January, exceeding analysts' forecasts.

Exports Decline While Imports Rise

The data revealed a monthly decrease in exports by €0.5 billion, bringing the total to €49.9 billion. Conversely, imports saw an uptick of €0.6 billion, reaching €57.1 billion on a monthly basis.

Energy and Manufactured Goods Sector Impact

Further detailing the February figures, the energy balance deteriorated by €0.3 billion, and the manufactured goods sector experienced a decline of €0.9 billion, contributing to the overall trade deficit.
