Volkswagen Announces Major Investment to Produce New Amarok in Argentina for South America by 2027

Volkswagen's Strategic Move in South America

The Volkswagen Group has unveiled plans to manufacture a new iteration of the Amarok, its renowned mid-size pick-up truck, specifically for the South American market. Starting in 2027, production will take place at the Pacheco plant in Argentina, marking a significant milestone for the company in the region.

Investment and Adaptations for the Future

With a hefty investment of $580 million, the Pacheco factory is set to undergo transformations to meet the demands of the new Amarok generation. Since 2010, the plant has been the production hub for the older Amarok model, with over 770,000 units manufactured to date.

Localization at the Heart of Volkswagen's Strategy

"Regional growth and localization are pivotal to our global strategy. This investment not only bolsters our standing in a key market but also ensures the new Amarok is tailor-made for South American consumers," stated Thomas Schaefer, CEO of the VW brand. The initiative underscores Volkswagen's commitment to addressing the unique preferences and requirements of its South American clientele.
