ECB President Voices Concerns Over Trump's Tariff Plans

In a recent interview on Irish radio station Newstalk, European Central Bank (ECB) President Christine Lagarde expressed her concerns regarding the potential impact of United States President Donald Trump's proposed tariffs on the global economy. "We don't know what the deal will be for the rest of the world - but what we know is that it won't be good for the global economy," Lagarde stated.
Uncertainty Looms Over Global Markets
Lagarde highlighted the uncertainty surrounding whether Trump will implement a blanket tariff or target specific sectors. She emphasized the importance of focusing on domestic strategies to mitigate potential risks. "It is important to 'stop and hold' until there is more certainty," she added, pointing out that the ongoing trade wars have made investments in the US markets "less attractive."
