US Personal Spending Increases in February
According to the latest report from the Bureau of Economic Analysis, personal consumption expenditures (PCE) in the United States saw a significant increase in February. The data revealed a monthly growth of $87.8 billion, marking a 0.4% rise.
Key Economic Indicators Show Positive Trends
The PCE price index, a critical measure of inflation, experienced a 0.3% increase from January to February, with a year-over-year growth of 2.5%. When excluding the volatile food and energy sectors, the index still showed a robust growth of 0.4% for the month and 2.8% compared to the previous year.
Income Growth Supports Spending
Further bolstering the economy, personal income in January surged by $194.7 billion, a 0.8% increase, while disposable personal income (DPI) climbed by 0.9%, adding $191.6 billion to Americans' wallets.
