EU-China Trade Talks Aim for Mutual Benefits

In a significant move to enhance trade relations, the European Commission has announced that Maros Sefcovic, the European Commissioner for Trade and Economic Security, will visit China from March 27 to March 28. The visit underscores the EU's commitment to fostering a more balanced and cooperative trade relationship with China, focusing on principles of reciprocity, transparency, and mutual benefit.

High-Level Meetings on the Agenda

Sefcovic is scheduled to meet with key Chinese officials, including Vice Premier He Lifeng and Minister for Customs Sun Meijun, on Thursday. Discussions will continue on Friday with Chinese Minister for Commerce Wang Wentao. A primary objective of these meetings is to explore strategies for aligning Chinese investments in the EU with the EU's priorities and policy objectives, highlighting the importance of this bilateral relationship, which is valued at €730 billion annually.
