Air India's New Travel Policy for Executives
In a bold move to prioritize paying passengers, Air India has announced that starting April 1, 2025, all its staff, including top management like the CEO, will default to economy class for domestic flights. Upgrades to premium economy or business class will only be possible if seats remain unsold 50 minutes before departure.

Focus on Premium Economy
The airline is betting big on its premium economy cabin, inherited from Vistara, aiming to make all premium seats available for paying customers. With 50,000 premium economy seats offered weekly on 39 domestic routes, this number is expected to rise to over 65,000 by October.
Revamping the Fleet
Under the Tata Group's ownership, Air India has embarked on a $400 million cabin retrofit program. Despite supply chain challenges, the airline is committed to transforming its fleet into a world-class offering, with the narrow-body fleet expected to be revamped by October and the wide-body fleet in 2-3 years.
