Apple Commits 720 Million Yuan to Boost Clean Energy in China, Aims for 100% Renewable Supply Chain by 2030

Apple's Major Investment in China's Clean Energy Future

In a significant move towards sustainability, Apple Inc. CEO Tim Cook revealed plans to invest 720 million yuan (approximately $100 million) into a clean energy fund in China. This announcement was made through a Weibo post on Monday, highlighting Apple's commitment to environmental responsibility.

Strengthening Renewable Energy Commitments

"Two-thirds of our supply chain in China is already powered by renewable energy," Cook stated, emphasizing the company's ambitious goal to achieve 100% renewable energy usage by 2030. The initiative is expected to significantly contribute to China's renewable energy capacity, adding around 550,000 megawatt-hours of wind and solar energy to the grid annually.

Building on Past Successes

This new fund is set to expand on the achievements of the first China Clean Energy Fund established in 2018. Apple COO Jeff Williams praised the innovation and green manufacturing efforts of Apple's suppliers in China, expressing pride in the deepened collaboration through this initiative.
