US Consumer Confidence Takes a Hit in March

In a recent report by the University of Michigan, it was revealed that consumer sentiment in the United States has taken a significant downturn in March. The index plummeted to 57.9, a sharp decline from February's 64.7, marking the lowest point since November 2022 and falling below expectations.

The current conditions index also saw a decrease, dropping to 63.5 from 65.7, while the expectations indicator slightly decreased to 54.2 from 54 in February. Notably, inflation expectations for the next year have risen to 4.9%, up from 4.3% in February, with five-year expectations also increasing to 3.9% from 3.5% last month.
