Spain's Power Grid on the Mend After Widespread Blackout

Red Electrica, Spain's electricity grid operator, announced on Monday that it has initiated the process of restoring power across various regions of the country following a significant blackout that affected the Iberian Peninsula.

"We are starting to recover power in the north and south of the peninsula, which is key to progressively meet the electricity supply," stated Red Electrica in a recent update on X. The operator emphasized that the restoration involves a gradual energization of the transmission grid as generation units are reconnected, underscoring their ongoing efforts to fully restore services.

Earlier reports from local media highlighted that the blackout extended beyond Spain, impacting Portugal and parts of France. The cause of this extensive power outage remains under investigation, leaving many questions unanswered.
