US Stock Markets Soar as February Inflation Drops Below Expectations

US Markets Rally on Inflation News

Stock indexes in the United States experienced significant gains at the opening bell on Wednesday, buoyed by a better-than-expected Consumer Price Index (CPI) report. The annual inflation rate for February was recorded at 2.8%, alleviating some of the concerns surrounding the Trump administration's 25% tariff on steel and aluminum imports and the European Union's countermeasures.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average saw an increase of 0.49%, or 200 points, by 9:30 am ET, with The Boeing Co. leading the charge with a 2.56% rise. The Nasdaq 100 wasn't far behind, jumping 1.62%, largely thanks to Applovin Corp.'s impressive 11.42% surge. Meanwhile, the S&P 500 added 1.03% to its value, with Super Micro Computer Inc. experiencing an 8.77% leap.

In currency markets, the euro experienced a slight decline against the dollar, trading 0.27% lower and selling for 1.08908 at 9:31 am ET.
