German Industrial Output Rises in January
Germany's industrial sector experienced a notable uptick in January, with a 2% increase in production compared to the previous month, according to provisional data from the Federal Statistical Office Destatis. However, when compared to January of the previous year, there was a 1.6% decline.

Key Sectors Driving Growth
The automotive industry was a significant contributor to this growth, with a 6.4% increase in production from December. Similarly, the food industry saw a 7.7% rise, and there was a substantial 15.6% surge in machine maintenance and assembly production.
Other Notable Changes
Intermediate goods production also saw an increase of 3.3%, while consumer goods production rose by 2.4% from December 2024. In contrast, energy production experienced a slight decrease of 0.5% in January.
