In a recent report by the Federal Statistical Office Destatis, Germany's trade surplus for January was recorded at €16 billion. This marks a significant decrease from December's €20.7 billion and a sharp decline from January 2024's €25.3 billion.

Exports and Imports Overview

Adjusted for calendar and seasonal variations, Germany's exports of goods fell to €129.2 billion, witnessing a 2.5% drop from the previous month and a slight 0.1% decrease year-on-year. Conversely, imports rose to €113.1 billion, showing a 1.2% increase from December and an 8.7% surge compared to the same month last year.

Trade with EU and Non-EU Countries

Exports to EU countries experienced a 4.2% decline from December, totaling €69.8 billion, while imports from these countries decreased by 1.1% to €57 billion. Trade with non-EU countries also saw changes, with exports slightly down by 0.4% to €59.4 billion and imports increasing by 3.7% to €56.1 billion.
