Lufthansa Awaits US Support to Overcome Boeing's Delivery Delays

Lufthansa's Hope for US Intervention

Carsten Spohr, CEO of Deutsche Lufthansa AG, expressed optimism that the United States President Donald Trump's administration would assist Boeing in resolving its ongoing issues. This assistance could potentially accelerate the delivery of long-awaited aircraft to Lufthansa.

Impact on Lufthansa's Operations

In a conversation with CNBC, Spohr highlighted the benefits of operating the most modern aircraft, not only for passenger satisfaction but also for shareholder value due to reduced costs. He mentioned that Lufthansa is currently awaiting the delivery of 41 wide-body planes, which are delayed in the US.

Challenges in Aircraft Delivery

The CEO pointed out that the delivery of over 240 aircraft ordered by Lufthansa for the coming years is being delayed. These delays are attributed to supply chain disruptions and certification issues between Boeing and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in the US.
