In a recent announcement, Switzerland's Federal Statistical Office revealed that the annual inflation rate for January stood at 0.3%. This marks a slight decrease from February's figure of 0.4%, indicating a subtle shift in the country's economic landscape.

Monthly Consumer Price Index Rise

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) experienced a 0.6% increase monthly, reaching 107.4 points. This change was primarily driven by higher prices in the clothing, footwear, and transport sectors. In contrast, the prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages remained stable compared to the previous month.

Core Inflation and HICP Trends

Core inflation, which excludes fresh and seasonal products, energy, and fuel, saw a 0.7% increase from the previous month and a 0.9% rise annually. Additionally, the Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP), utilized for European comparison, showed a 0.1% increase from the last month and year.
