According to the latest report from INSEE, France's statistical office, the country witnessed a 0.6% decrease in industrial production in January compared to the previous month.

Manufacturing and Construction Output

Manufacturing output wasn't spared, showing a 0.7% decrease month on month, with a significant 1.9% drop in the production of capital goods. The construction sector faced a sharper decline, with output decreasing by 3.8% from December.

Annual Comparison

Looking at the bigger picture, the industrial output has fallen by 1.3% in January on an annual basis. Manufacturing and construction outputs have also seen a downturn, decreasing by 2.1% and 3.5% respectively.
