Ajay Seth Takes on Dual Role: Economic Affairs and Revenue Secretary in India

Ajay Seth Assumes Additional Responsibilities

In a significant development within the Indian government, Economic Affairs Secretary Ajay Seth has been entrusted with the additional charge of the Revenue Department. This decision comes in the wake of Tuhin Kanta Pandey's appointment as the chairman of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), leaving the Revenue Department's leadership vacant.

Background and Expertise

Ajay Seth, a seasoned officer of the 1987 IAS batch from the Karnataka cadre, has been steering the Department of Economic Affairs since April 2021. With a robust academic background, including a B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering and an MBA, Seth brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to his new dual role.

The appointment, as per the official order, is effective immediately and will continue until a regular incumbent is appointed or further orders are issued, whichever comes first. This strategic move underscores the government's confidence in Seth's capabilities to handle critical financial portfolios during a pivotal time.
