Intel Delays Ohio Semiconductor Manufacturing Projects
In a significant shift from its original timeline, Intel Corporation has announced a delay in the construction of its $28 billion semiconductor manufacturing facilities in Ohio. The new target for completion is now set for 2030, as reported by The Columbus Dispatch on Friday.
Revised Completion Dates
The first plant, located in the Licking County area of New Albany, is not expected to be finalized until 2030, with operations likely to commence either within that year or the following one. The second factory's completion is slated for at least 2031, with operations beginning in 2032.
Original Plans and Current Commitment
Initially, the project was aimed to be operational by 2025. However, the construction timeline was later adjusted to the end of 2026. Despite these delays, Intel reaffirmed its commitment to the project, highlighting a $3.7 billion investment already made locally.
