Switzerland Faces Economic Slowdown: Key Industries Under Pressure in February

Economic Activity Dips in Switzerland

According to the latest report from the KOF Swiss Economic Institute, Switzerland experienced a noticeable decline in economic activity this February. The KOF Economic Barometer, a key indicator of economic health, registered at 101.7 points, down from a revised 103 points in January. Despite this decrease, the barometer remains above its medium-term average, indicating some resilience in the Swiss economy.

Industries Feeling the Pressure

The report highlights that all production-side indicator bundles are under significant pressure, with the manufacturing and other services sectors weakening the most. Notably, the paper and printing industry, along with the chemical and pharmaceutical sectors, wood, glass, and machinery and equipment manufacturing, were the most affected. On a brighter note, the electrical and metal industries reported a more favorable outlook, offering a glimmer of hope amidst the economic slowdown.
