Following in Waymo's Footsteps
According to a company spokesperson, Tesla is seeking a permit akin to that held by Waymo, Alphabet Inc.'s autonomous taxi service. While Tesla has been granted the green light to test its self-driving technology in California—albeit with a safety driver behind the wheel—it has yet to secure the necessary approvals for fully autonomous operations from the California Department of Motor Vehicles.
