CME Group Inc. Introduces New Bitcoin Futures Options

In a significant move for cryptocurrency traders, CME Group Inc. announced the launch of its new financially settled options on Bitcoin Friday futures, now available for trading. This development marks a pivotal moment in the cryptocurrency market, offering traders more tools for managing risk.

First Trade Executed Successfully

The first trade of these new options was successfully executed on Sunday, between Cumberland DRW and Galaxy, and cleared by Marex. This early adoption underscores the market's readiness for more sophisticated cryptocurrency financial instruments.

Giovanni Vicioso, CME's Global Head of Cryptocurrency Products, expressed enthusiasm about the early and strong support for these new options. "These smaller sized, cash-settled contracts, with expiries available every day of the business week, will provide traders with even greater precision to manage short-term bitcoin price risk," Vicioso commented. This innovation is set to offer CME's customers additional flexibility in managing their cryptocurrency investments.
